Hello, I'm Sajil Awale

Machine Learning & Software Engineer

I'm a machine learning and software engineer with 4+ years of experience across NLP, large language models, and agentic AI. I recently completed my M.S. in Computer Science (4.0 GPA) at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, where at NASA-IMPACT I build and evaluate agentic AI systems for scientific research and pre-train foundational science embedding models. This work was published at KDD 2026.

Before my master's, I spent 3+ years as an ML and data engineer in the healthcare domain, building production models for cost-risk prediction, care-gap detection, and ETL automation. I earned my B.E. in Electronics & Communication Engineering from the Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk Campus, Tribhuvan University, graduating 8th in the university.

My interests span applied machine learning, LLMs and agentic systems, and information retrieval, and their use in high-impact domains such as scientific discovery, healthcare, and security.
